The exhibition “Architecture as Art” is a unique opportunity to explore new architectural and design projects from different countries around the world that the Golden Trezzini Awards experts have deemed worthy of inclusion in a museum collection.
The International Golden Trezzini Awards for Architecture and Design were founded in St Petersburg in 2018 and named after Domenico Trezzini (1670–1734) – the first architect of St Petersburg, creator of the Peter and Paul Cathedral, the Twelve Colleges building, and other masterpieces of Petrine Baroque.
The main trophy of the Awards is the gilded statuette of Domenico Trezzini. The Awards are organized by the Worldwide St. Petersburg Club.
The Award is conferred for outstanding contributions to architecture as an art form. Its goal is the museification of the finest examples of architectural creativity. It is the only international award whose winning projects are recognized as holding museum value. Laureates’ works enter the collection of the State Museum of the History of St Petersburg and are exhibited annually at the “Architecture as Art” exhibition in the Peter and Paul Fortress.
The International Council of the Awards is chaired by Mikhail Piotrovsky – President of the Worldwide St. Petersburg Club and General Director of the State Hermitage Museum. Experts from 35 countries serve on the Council and jury. Since its inception, over 5 100 projects from 113 countries have competed for the Awards.
