The results of the first stage of the Fifth International Golden Trezzini Awards have been summed up. List of finalists in 21 categories is available on the Awards’ website. The shortlist included 63 projects from 16 countries.
In the list of contenders for the main prize of the award, a gilded figurine of Domenico Trezzini, the first architect of St. Petersburg, includes the best, according to the Qualification Committee, projects from Belgium, Brazil, China, Cuba, Germany, India, Indonesia, Iran, Ireland, Mexico, Poland, Russia, Spain, Thailand, the UK, and the USA. Among the shortlisted, there are, for instance: Hainan International Convention & Exhibition Center Phase II (PT DESIGN); AARU Santa Fe residential building in Mexico City (Arquitectura ERRE); YAZD I.S.I.P.O. Headquarter in Iran (Morph Architects); a school in Rajasthan, India (Sanjay Puri Architects); Visions of Freedom. Romanticism in Russia and Germany, joint exhibition project by Tretyakov Gallery and the State artistic collections of Dresden; rearrangement of warehousing facilities in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia (SPEECH architectural bureau). “This year, 1,123 applications from 74 countries were submitted for participation,” says Pavel Chernyakov, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Golden Trezzini Awards. “At the stage of preliminary selection, 244 applications were rejected by the Organizing Committee as non-consistent with the regulations on the Awards. The members of the Qualification Committee faced a challenge: to review the remaining 879 applications online and decide which of them are worthy of being shortlisted for voting by the International Jury. And today we are happy to congratulate the finalists! For those who were not included in the shortlist, we ask you not to get upset. Among this year’s laureates to be announced on November 15, there will be not only winners selected from the finalists, but also holders of a large number of special certificates and awards from the Organizing Committee and Awards’ partners.”

It should be reminded that every year the Worldwide St. Petersburg Club and the Golden Trezzini Organizing Committee award gilded figurines of the first architect of St. Petersburg, Domenico Trezzini, to the best architects, restorers and designers from around the world. Honorary Chairman of the International Council of the Awards is Mikhail Piotrovsky, President of the Worldwide St. Petersburg Club, General Director of the State Hermitage.

In 2022, the Golden Trezzini Awards, held under the motto «Architecture as Art», are being held for the fifth time. Applications were closed on September, 15. The winners will be announced on November, 15 at the State Hermitage, on the stage of the Hermitage Theatre. The winning projects will be showcased at the exhibition in the Peter and Paul Fortress and will replenish the collection of the Museum of the History of St. Petersburg.
The applications for the Sixth Golden Trezzini Awards will start in Q1, 2023.
