The exhibition “Lazar Khidekel (1904—1986)”, shown in the Stroganov Palace, is competing for the title of the “Best Implemented Project of a Temporary or Permanent Museum Exposition”.
This exhibition, which took place in 2019, was the first in Russia to comprehensively cover the career of Lazar Khidekel, a bright representative of Russian Avant-garde and the first Suprematist architect.
The basis of the exposition are Khidekel’s futuristic projects – cities of the future, his projects of space housing areas – Garden City, Aero City, Aqua City – and construction concepts implemented in Leningrad (St. Petersburg).
The exhibition has unique design – pylons in the exhibition hall supported photo collages that demonstrated how graphics became something real.
Visitors could follow the vivid and important page of the Russian Avant-garde and see with their own eyes the evolution of Lazar Khidekel’s artistic and architectural concepts in 1930s through 1980s.
The exhibition was held in the Stroganov Palace, one of the branches of the State Russian Museum, and was curated by Eugenia Petrova, Deputy Director General of the Museum for Research. Novatek PJSC supported the exhibition financially. Victoria Mikhelson is the partner of the project.

The Golden Trezzini Awards for Architecture and Design are named after Domenico Trezzini (1670—1734), Russian architect of Swiss origin, the first architect of St. Petersburg. The main objective of the Awards is turning the most artistically valuable architectural, design, restoration, scenography, and exhibition projects into museum objects. The Honorary Chairman of the International Council for the Golden Trezzini Awards is Mikhail Piotrovsky, President of the Worldwide St. Petersburg Club and General Director of the State Hermitage.
Entries for the 4th Golden Trezzini Awards are accepted by October 1, 2021 at www.goldtrezzini.ru. 500+ projects from 80 countries have already been accepted. Participation is free of charge.
2021 Golden Trezzini Awards winners will be awarded in November during the Gala-Night at the Mikhailovsky Theatre. The best projects by competitors will be added to the collection of the Architectural Graphics Fund at the Museum of St. Petersburg History and take part in an annual exhibition.
