About the project (provided by the applicant)
This pavilion design reflects the complexities of Tehran, blending its rich history, diverse culture, and urban challenges. Visitors first encounter themselves in a mirrored space, symbolizing the need for self-awareness to navigate the city’s intricacies. As they move through winding paths and varying elevations, they experience Tehran’s topography and fragmented skyline, mirroring the city’s physical and social diversity. The pavilion’s transparent wooden walls represent interaction between inside and outside, mirroring the dynamic relationship between Tehran and the world. With just two materials—wood and mirror—the design emphasizes the importance of self-understanding and human connection in a complex urban environment. The flexible program allows the space to adapt to different activities, reflecting Tehran’s constant transformation. This pavilion isn’t just a structure but an immersive journey, inviting visitors to reflect on their place in the city.
