This project reimagines the ordinary apartment facade as a poetic dialogue between light, privacy, and tradition. Instead of leaving residents to close their curtains, we brought the curtain outside, creating a translucent woven shell that protects privacy while filtering daylight. Inspired by the mat-weaving heritage of Gilan, plexiglass strips were interlaced like rural wickerwork, forming a delicate yet contemporary second skin. Between the layers of this facade, plants and balconies were placed, offering residents a softer visual connection to the city. The rest of the building’s geometry was redesigned to follow the weaving logic, extending the concept beyond the facade. On the ground floor, the staircase was adjusted to create a welcoming lobby, while the roof was transformed into a garden, addressing the shortage of open space in the dense urban fabric. The result is an apartment that turns an ordinary cube into a living, breathing organism.

tayebi + Najafi design studio
Pejman Tayebi is an architect based in Rasht, Iran. After studying at University of Guilan, IAU Central Tehran, and University of Tehran, he collaborated with several studios, contributing to award-winning projects and competitions. Since 2016, he has led his own practice, focusing on architectural and interior design, site supervision, and execution, with works recognized nationally and internationally.
