Category
Best Implemented Reconstruction Project
About the project (provided by the applicant)
The P. L. Apakov Tram Depot, one of the oldest in Moscow, became a key site of modernization: it was necessary to combine modern technological standards with the preservation of the historic appearance of the complex.
Functional modernization was carried out on the principle of a modern production line. An innovative through-traffic scheme was introduced, which doubled the speed of maintenance and washing of tramcars.
The technological solutions include:
– modernization of track infrastructure (4.5 km of tracks with eco-friendly composite sleepers);
– introduction of a water treatment and recirculation system;
– automation of tramcar drying process.
Social infrastructure was created to provide comfortable working conditions for more than 400 employees.
The historic value of the complex has been preserved in its original form. The architectural and artistic appearance of the 19th-century main building façade has been carefully restored. The architectural solution combines the historic value of the complex with a modern environment for the operation and servicing of rolling stock.
