Architectural and Environmental Organization of Sobornaya Square

About the project (provided by the applicant)
The concept of the project is based on the idea of cyclical perception of time. This idea is reflected in a temporary festival environment that changes on holidays. The concept is realized through festival architecture made of lightweight modular structures and the multifunctional square space, which accommodates seasonal fairs. The range of events is extensive, from church holidays to exhibitions held for City Day.
The location of Sobornaya Square and its urban significance inspired three main directions for developing the territory. Based on these, three types of temporary festival scenarios were developed: a religious holiday, a harvest fair, and a festival-exhibition of scientific and technical achievements for City Day. These scenarios are temporary and occur during specific seasons.
The city’s trading buildings — the “Gastro Pavilion” — were reconstructed using artistic stylization techniques.
