Project
Arctic Museum of Modern Art

Category
Best Project of Public Building or Facility

About the project
The Arctic Museum of Modern Art will be located in the former Trade Center, one of the Soviet Modernist memorials in Norilsk. To keep the old building and yet extend it and create some new spaces the authors designed a structure that will spring through the carcass.
AMMA will comprise three spaces — the ground floor of the old building will become a public space, a roofed city square. The 1st floor will become an open storage and a temporary exposition venue. The new vertical block will be the main exhibition space.
Trapezoidal windows of the old windows will be decorated with bright lights and green plants. The new part of the museum will be clad with metal panels illuminated at night.
