Project
Optics in the Building of a Soviet Telephone Exchange
Category
Best Implemented Interior Design Project for Public Space
About the project (provided by the applicant)
The salon is located in the building of a former Soviet telephone exchange — a space without natural light but with an impressive ceiling height. The main idea of the project was to turn the process of choosing eyeglass frames into a special experience. Display cases are built into the walls and illuminated like exhibits in a gallery. The interior is based on contrasts: rough concrete columns meet smooth glossy surfaces, strict furniture geometry contrasts with natural chaotic textures. The goal was to move away from the typical solutions characteristic of most optical salons and create a unique atmosphere with a new rhythm and perception.
