Project
AZ Molecular Gastronomy Restaurant

Best Project of Building or Facility by Student

About the project
The project was inspired by works of Tadao Ando and Peter Zumthor, and the Harbor of Light is a metaphor for it. It is an experiment with contrast perception, the game of light, shadow and water. Its feature is its connection to water. Manmade channels within it facilitate the use of gondolas — these are the only way of getting into the restaurant.
Visitors can enjoy all the kinds of contrasts – tunnels vs. open natural sites, shadows vs. light, one space replacing another and one sense taking the place of the other one. The blood-vessel-like structure hovers around the bar counter: this attraction point is designed in the main cylinder-shaped hall, in the center of the facility.
