Project
Architectural and Artistic Lighting of the Betancourt Bridge
Category
Best Implemented Architectural Lighting Project in Russia
About the project (provided by the applicant)
The Betancourt Bridge across the Malaya Nevka is a modern, innovative project connecting the Vasileostrovsky and Petrogradsky districts of St. Petersburg. The lighting design combines the classic traditions of St. Petersburg's light architecture with cutting-edge technology.
The main architectural and artistic lighting for the span structure, body, supports, cables, and base of the bridge is executed in the moderate tones characteristic of St. Petersburg's architecture. However, in the central above-water section of the bridge, the architecture is delineated by bright horizontal lines created using special modular controlled luminaires.
A powerful control system independently manages 56,000 pixels via the DMX protocol, enabling dynamic scenarios for holidays, such as the colors of the Russian flag, the St. George ribbon, and others.
The project demonstrates a careful approach to the historical context while utilizing innovative lighting engineering solutions, creating a harmonious image of a symbolic bridge that connects not only banks but also eras.
