About the project (provided by the applicant)
“Born in the Urals” is an art installation in Chelyabinsk’s Victory Park, symbolizing the connection between humans, the earth, and creativity. Its author is architect and sculptor Maria Latysheva, originally from the Urals.

The installation features a flock of birds made from materials characteristic of the region: metal from Ural mines and Ural clay from “Vitold Clay.” Over one hundred figures were sculpted by hand by local residents and students of the School of Arts, each unique and expressing individual spirit. Together, they form a unified aspiration—flight upward, toward freedom.

The birds, born from the earth, become a metaphor for the human journey: from raw matter to light and self-realization. The installation is dynamic, continually enriched by new creations, inviting visitors to become co-authors. It is both an artistic object and a living metaphor for the strength of the Urals and the limitless potential of humans.
