About the project (provided by the applicant)
The Bunkerhouse is located in the Cumbayá valley in the city of Quito. With a concrete structure and exposed brick masonry, it seeks to adapt to the immediate natural surroundings, surrounded by mountains and vegetation. It is divided into two volumes: one containing the social areas on a single floor, and the other housing the private areas across two floors, connected by an intentionally low access to enhance the sequence of spatial reduction and expansion, creating different perceptions of the space. The main goal on the ground floor is to generate the largest amount of surrounding green space to connect as many areas as possible to the interior. The bedroom, in turn, expands through a terrace with views of the mountains and a small sitting area, creating a private space in connection with nature. The pool area is unified with the main living room to form a single space extending from the kitchen to the rear garden, intensifying the sense of space
