Project Regional Educational Center for Gifted Youth with a Research Function in Oceanology and Geology
Best Project of Building or Facility by Student
About the project (provided by the applicant) The project is an educational cluster aimed at developing the educational infrastructure of Chukotka. Anadyr is located in a monsoon climate zone with permafrost, so all design solutions take these conditions into account. Students, teachers, and staff can use the center year-round.
The educational center in Anadyr is an innovative complex of 13 streamlined buildings connected by a multi-level system of covered walkways. The architectural concept is fully adapted to extreme Arctic conditions: the rounded building forms and polished metal façades minimize snow accumulation, and pile foundations ensure stability on permafrost soils.
A three-level landscape organization with height differences between pedestrian routes creates an aerodynamic effect, significantly reducing wind load. This solution allows comfortable movement between buildings even during the strong winds typical of the region.
