Formation of the Architectural Environment of a Cultural and Business Quarter within the Central Market Area

Best Project of Public Space by Student
About the project (provided by the applicant)
In recent years, Perm has been experiencing active development: culture, education, transport, and infrastructure are reaching a new level. Architecture and urban planning play a significant role, as projects transform not only the city’s appearance but also the daily life of its residents.
One of the key growth points is the Central Market — previously a closed, overcrowded, and unfriendly space. The problem lies in the fragmented application of comprehensive territorial development (CTD): construction proceeds without a unified master plan, and lenient urban planning restrictions give developers excessive freedom.
In this project, I aimed to combine a personal connection to the city with professional knowledge, proposing a new development direction. Special attention was given to public spaces and streets as the foundation of a lively urban environment. Inspired by the heritage of the Kamensky merchant family, I designed a project of blocks that combines modern standards with the memory of the place.
The project offers not just renovation, but the formation of a cohesive district with a cultural and business center, developed educational and commercial functions, and a vibrant urban environment.
