About the project (provided by the applicant)
The ShahinShahr Pedestrian Bridge, also called the «City Moon Bridge,» is a unique blend of urban functionality and cultural symbolism. Located at the intersection of Ferdowsi Street and Imam Khomeini Boulevard, the bridge addresses common urban challenges like pedestrian safety, traffic congestion, and connectivity between key city areas. However, it also serves as a powerful cultural landmark for ShahinShahr, inspired by the moon—a symbol deeply embedded in Persian heritage, representing guidance, beauty, and reflection.
In Persian culture, the moon has long been seen as a symbol of continuity and spiritual connection. By incorporating this celestial motif into the bridge's design, it transforms an everyday activity—crossing the street—into a shared ritual, linking the people of ShahinShahr with one another and the broader cosmos. The bridge’s design features soft curves, circular shapes, and strategic lighting that mimic the moon’s glow.
