Project
Concert and exhibition center in Yekaterinburg

Category
Best Project of Building or Facility by Student

About the project
The design site is located at the Verkh-Isetsky Pond.
The building comprises a concert, an educational, an exhibition, and a recreation sections that can be used independently or together depending on the type and scale of the event.
Outlooking waters of the pond, the building has an austere geometric layout. This is how the author shows that although architecture and nature are very different, they can complement each other favorably. The embankment is designed with several open zones for outdoor concerts and performances, and there are some manmade basins to be filled by storm waters.
The north-eastern facade will be covered with a media panel made of white vertically rotating plates — this will help to adjust sunlight penetrating inside and save power, too.
