About the project (provided by the applicant)
The memorial complex, dedicated to the soldiers who fell during World War II, was developed as part of an assignment from the Department of Architectural Design at Tomsk State University of Architecture and Building (TSUAB).
The main focus was on the harmonious integration of the complex into the natural environment and the symbolic interpretation of the project’s conceptual volume. Cranes symbolize soldiers who sacrifice their lives for their country and loved ones. The idea is expressed through the imagery of rescuing a chick and guiding it to flight. A deeper meaning of this image is evoked in the song “Cranes” by Mark Bernes.
