About the project
Stage Director Vladimir Ivanov wanted this performance to be genred as gallopade, a lively dance. There are only two artists at the stage – Maria Aronova and Vladislav Gandrabura, who take turns to present Gogol’s vivid characters to the audience.
The acting space features black, white, and grey colors, with flamboyant highlights in costumes. Artist Maxim Obrezkov designed 25 masks styled on commedia dell'arte for the play.
