Project
Exterior and Interior Design Project of the Ethno-Village “Verkhnyaya Balkaria”

Category
Best Project of Public Space by Student

About the project (provided by the applicant)
The project is an author’s interpretation of traditional Balkar architecture in the format of a contemporary ethno-village aimed at promoting sustainable tourism and preserving intangible cultural heritage. The main concept is to reinterpret the environment through the lens of local identity — not as stylization, but as the creation of a living space built on respect for the terrain, culture, rhythms, and architectural memory.

Each space reflects cultural continuity: traditional forms and natural materials are used alongside modern technologies of comfort and lighting. The ethno-village offers a unique user experience, allowing modern visitors to connect with silence, nature, culture, and themselves. The project can be implemented as a cultural and tourist site or serve as an educational model for adapting ethnic architecture within contemporary environmental design practice.
