About the project (provided by the applicant)
The proposed design for the Egyptian Museum in Miami emerges as a bold fusion of the monumentality of Ancient Egypt and the fluid tropical landscape of Florida's coastal landscape. Nestled above the calm waters of Biscayne Bay, the building presents itself as a sculptural structure evoking the sacred geometry of the pyramids, reinterpreted with contemporary lines and translucent materials.
The building is based on a large pyramid divided into four units of different sizes and positioned opposite each other, with the goal of the pyramids covering and protecting the exhibition halls from the sun and rain.
The museum features small and large exhibition halls at its bases, and within the pyramids are replicas of the tombs, which are interconnected and accessed through the glass pyramid. It also features public and dining spaces with excellent views of the bay and Miami's downtown.
