Project
EMU Stadium: Sport Hub, Community Park, Well-Being
Category
Best Project of Building or Facility by Student
About the project (provided by the applicant)
The project envisions a dynamic student hub anchored by a modern stadium designed for multifunctional, year-round use. It redefines stadiums as community-oriented spaces hosting sports, festivals, graduations, and performances. Central to the concept is a circular economy model, where food and clothing waste are repurposed into matchday products through student-led workshops, promoting economic and social sustainability. The design prioritizes passive strategies—optimizing natural light, harnessing prevailing winds for ventilation, and integrating a lightweight cable-supported canopy with SUNTEX solar textile to provide shade, generate electricity, and adapt seasonally. A kinetic textile façade enhances cross-ventilation, ensuring thermal comfort in the region’s hot, humid climate while harmonizing with the campus context.
