Project
Parish Church Complex on Galerny Island
Category
Best Project of Building or Facility by Student
About the project (provided by the applicant)
The project represents a contemporary Orthodox parish church complex on Galerny Island, where traditional symbols are reinterpreted through modern architectural form. The compositional core is the church itself, crowned with a tall glass spire symbolizing spiritual ascent and striving toward the heavens.
Continuing along the main axis is a light-filled glass atrium that serves as a transitional space, connecting the church with the other parts of the complex. From the atrium extend two wings that form an open and welcoming layout. The interplay of glass and metal with the surrounding natural landscape gives the ensemble a sense of lightness, radiance, and spiritual elevation.
