About the project (provided by the applicant)
Genoteca is a textile installation weaving tradition and innovation, inspired by genetic identity and the artisanal heritage of the Valle d’Itria. Made of natural jute with multicolored inserts crafted by a local knitter, the 130-meter aerial structure creates a dialogue between light, shadow, and architecture. Its weave recalls DNA, a symbol of memory and continuity, and reflects the seven colors of the rainbow, symbolizing inclusivity and beauty. Sustainable and site-specific, the work explores ethical fashion, opposing fast fashion while enhancing ancient manufacturing knowledge.
The project, presented in 2024, started in August and finished in November in Locorotondo, one of the most beautiful and famous village in Italy and was officially presented during the 5th edition of the «Esseri Urbani» art and architecture festival promoted by UJùse, ambassadors of the principles promoted by the New European Bauhaus.
