Project
Multifunctional Residential Complex Golden City

Category
Best Implemented Capital Construction Project in St. Petersburg

About the project (provided by the applicant)
Golden City is located on reclaimed land on Vasilyevsky Island in St. Petersburg. The project was realized following an international competition in 2015, won by the Dutch consortium KCAP Holding B.V. & + Orange and the architectural bureau A.LEN.

The multifunctional complex is designed to become a city landmark, shaping the panorama of the Gulf of Finland and continuing the sequence of major city dominants — the golden spires of the Peter and Paul Cathedral and the Admiralty. The concept is based on the morphology of St. Petersburg’s historic center — enclosed blocks with courtyards, gardens, labyrinths, and public spaces. Building heights range from 6 to 17 floors to emphasize the silhouette, provide views, and account for wind conditions. The theme “We and the Neighbors” unites the blocks, while individuality is expressed through landscape solutions characteristic of the Baltic region.
