Project
Central Model Children’s Library named after M. Gorky

Category
Best Design Project for Library

About the project (provided by the applicant)
The audience of the Central Model Children’s Library named after M. Gorky consists of children and youth. During the design process, surveys were conducted, and the wishes of the current and potential audience were taken into account. The reading room resembles a literary café with coworking zones while also transforming into a conference hall. There is a coffee corner and a space for meetings or individual reading. Two central walls are decorated with a historical panel and a contemporary mural of M. Gorky.

It was important to preserve the existing structure while integrating new elements. This is reflected in the colors of the furniture and walls near the panels, while geometric shapes connect it with the modern depiction of M. Gorky. The lending area is zoned by color: children 0+ are served in the yellow zone, while 12+ are in the orange-green zone. There are areas for creativity, learning, and social interaction. The library promotes family reading and works with children in difficult circumstances, which is reflected in wall illustrations, furniture, and designated zones. For optimal use, the sensory room features a simple design with focus on the exercise equipment.
