Project
Reconstruction of Gorky Central Park of Culture and Leisure
Category
Best Architectural Project Created with Hand-Drawn Graphics
About the project (provided by the applicant)
The park area, covering approximately 42 hectares, is located on the left bank of the Volga River, in close proximity to the water. The terrain is natural and unplanned, with a general slope toward the river. The concept of the reconstruction is based on preserving the park’s natural landscape with its groves and vistas, while making minimal interventions to create a comfortable, well-developed environment and to establish additional connections with the riverbank.
This concept is realized by extending the central alley into a network of branched paths and walkways descending toward the riverfront. Throughout the park, various functional zones are proposed — for quiet and active recreation, exhibitions, sports, and entertainment — all while preserving the existing landscape as much as possible. All existing buildings and structures within the park are subject to complete reconstruction.
Technique — liner and graphite pencil.
