Gostiny Dvor is a modern cultural and entertainment space for leisure, work, and creativity, located in the heart of Rostov Veliky, near the ancient walls of the Rostov Kremlin. The restored Gostiny Dvor (1830) exemplifies a careful blend of history and modernity. Its restoration preserved the authentic appearance of the building while giving it new life. The central feature of the space is a bright atrium with a glass roof, creating a sense of openness and freedom. Every detail of the interior is thoughtfully designed: natural materials, calm colors, and vivid painted accents create a harmonious atmosphere. Multiple lighting scenarios—from soft general lighting to focused accent lighting—allow the mood of the space to change easily. Thanks to this project, Gostiny Dvor has become not just a restored monument but a living symbol of the city—demonstrating how historic architecture can feel contemporary while preserving the unique character of Rostov Veliky.

Alexey M. Kapustin
Alexey M. Kapustin is one of Russia’s leading architects, specializing in classical, traditional, and religious architecture. He is a laureate of the Russian President’s Prize, a Gold Medal of the Russian Academy of Arts, recipient of state and religious awards, and honored by Russian special services. He has won international and nationwide competitions in architecture and urban planning. He serves as an advisor to the Russian Academy of Architecture and Construction Sciences and is the director of the Center for Classical and Traditional Architecture.
