Project
RIBBON OF HISTORY
Category
Best Project of Building or Facility by Student
About the project (provided by the applicant)
The main idea is the “Ribbon of History,” symbolizing the inseparable connection between the past, present, and future. Its material embodiment is a series of concrete and mirrored ribbons that wrap around the building, suggesting the form of a triangular fragment. The atriums divide this volume into three functional “fragments” and serve as the main transit routes.
The center is located along one of the main urban axes and is organically connected with the memorial, forming a harmonious duet with it without challenging its dominant role.
The architectural link with the monument is emphasized by the continuation of its lines and the use of a common material — mirror. The mirrored ribbon at the entrance reflects the visitor, the park, and the sky, integrating them into the space of memory.
Symbolism of materials:
Concrete — stability, eternity, and the weight of memory.
Glass (atriums) — the fragility of recollection and the transparency of history, as well as the connection between eras and functional zones.
The interior space is zoned by the atriums and by the continuation of the ribbons in the interior design.
