About the project (provided by the applicant)
Built in 1911 by architect Uno Ulberg in the Northern Modern style, the building was a focal point for Vyborg residents, housing not only a bank but also a fashionable café and later many other functions. After the Soviet era and post-war period, the building was almost completely destroyed. Although the load-bearing walls and main structures remained, the elaborately decorated façades in the Northern Modern style were completely lost and destroyed. The building transformed from a Northern Modern architectural masterpiece into a constructivist structure whose appearance barely resembled the original design by Uno Ulberg.
