About the project (provided by the applicant)
Hudson is a contemporary interpretation of North American traditionalism, delicately integrated into the historic fabric of Surgut, situated between the city center, an industrial district, and a park. The closed perimeter block consists of several multi-story residential buildings.
The project emphasizes the building’s introverted character: the walls are arranged around an internal courtyard, which sits at the center of the composition. Two arches (square and semicircular, serving as navigational elements) establish an axial connection with the city. The courtyard is semi-private, acting as a kind of lobby, while the children’s and sports playgrounds are open to all residents.
The concept is based on strict symmetrical forms and a three-part façade division: the base is clad in natural stone, the middle section combines contrasting brick and metal panels between the windows, and the top is finished with architectural concrete cornices. The complex, multi-layered façade gradually reveals itself in height from the avenue to the inner part of the district, unfolding to the viewer as they approach the building.
