About the project
The Indian city of Lucknow, once called the ‘Golden city of the East’, ‘Constantinople of India’ and ‘Shiraz-i-Hind’, was the erstwhile capital of the powerful and resource-rich Awadh region, ruled by governors of the Mughal empire turned independent rulers — the Nawabs. It is home to a many grand mausoleums, parks, gateways by the Nawabs and also a collection of edifices built during the British Raj; but is best known for its syncretism of cultures. It is the capital of the most populous state of India — Uttar Pradesh, and continues to patronise arts, crafts, etiquettes and its uniquely famous culinary realm.
