Project
Islands in the Kotorsol Floodplain

About the project (provided by the applicant)
The idea behind the project, combining functionality and artistic expression, draws on the pre-Christian past, referencing heroes of ancient tales and pagan gods — Perun, Veles, Kupala, and Chernobog, whose shrines were found in the Yaroslavl region.

The planning structure is based on the movement of Perun’s wheel, enclosed by a chain of paths. The wheel burns, rolls, leaves a trace on the ground, and eventually falls into the grass. Three such wheels “fell” on unnamed islands, forming three compositional centers. Each carries its own functional purpose and thematic meaning.

The first center includes a hotel complex with a café and boathouse building with a rental point.

The second center consists of a food court, self-service restaurant, pottery workshop, and retail pavilions.

The third center features a winter garden with a café inside.
