About the project (provided by the applicant)
The project concept is based on a fundamental approach to developing territories of permafrost.
Kandalaksha has the potential to become an important transportation hub, distributing resources in the Murmansk Region and serving as an attractive stop on tourist routes, including cruise trips along the Northern Sea Route.
The design proposal reconfigures abandoned industrial infrastructure within the selected boundaries and opens access to the White Sea shoreline for local residents and tourists.
Architectural solutions integrate the complex harmoniously into the artificial landscape. The project is a multifunctional complex with the primary function of a sea terminal and additional functions including a hotel and exhibition space.
The concept ensures comfort, efficiency in organizing transport routes and passenger flows, and provides the city with new cultural, recreational, and tourist services. The design allows year-round operation, both during the transportation season and off-season.
