Kavkaz Airport Fir Seed Dynamics

About the project (provided by the applicant)
The Kavkaz Airport designed by KPLN in Karachay-Cherkess Republic is intended to improve access to the Arkhyz and Dombay resorts. The architects created a natural image inspired by fir seeds — a symbol of lightness and flight.
The building echoes the outline of a seed with a “sail,” combining the functionality of an airport with the spirit of the place. A green roof, needle-like columns, and open areas with live trees integrate the terminal into the landscape. Inside, there is an atrium, a capsule hotel embedded in a hill, and outdoor relaxation zones.
The project merges natural aesthetics with innovative solutions, offering passengers a unique experience. Implementation is planned for 2028 — the airport is set to become one of the most original in Russia.
