Project
Fireplace in a Private House in Khimki
Category
Best Implemented Façade or Interior Project Using Ceramics
About the project (provided by the applicant)
The project is located in a private house in the Moscow region. My task was to create and install the cladding for a large drywall box, into which a ready-made fireplace had been inserted, decorated using the Florentine mosaic technique. The fireplace design predominantly features brown-purple tones. The interior also contained a lot of dark brown: floors, ceiling, and furniture. I wanted to enliven the overall somber tone.
Since the furniture upholstery contained green, the walls displayed paintings of green parks, and the windows on either side of the fireplace offered views of gardens, I decided to use different shades of green. Combined with the “autumnal” colors of the fireplace, this created a “garden of different seasons” effect. The work was executed from fine-grained chamotte, in low relief technique with complex painting using engobes and glazes.
