“Koltsovo” — Park Improvement Project

About the project (provided by the applicant)
The “Koltsovo” project is a renovation of the existing park in the center of the settlement. The main goal was to unify the fragmented parts of the park under a single concept and create landscaping that considers existing activities and seasonality.

Studying the characteristics of the science town, we concluded that an interesting direction for development would be a theme contrasting with the existing scientific cluster. We sought an image that is modern and artistic, yet understandable and traditional, symbolizing the harmony between humans, nature, and ethnic history. The design code was based on Khanty ornaments, which traditionally represent the connection between a person and a marked object. The park’s symbol became the bird Ulum Uy — the guardian of sleep and family health.

Three main routes were developed, each filled with thematic features: art objects, observation points, and rest areas. The heart of the park is an event square with a covered marketplace.

Koltsovo Park is a landscape ethnopark interpreted in a contemporary way.
