Lobby of Ligovsky-2 Metro Station

About the project (provided by the applicant)
The lobby of Ligovsky-2 metro station is conceived as an object that takes into account the character of the avenue and creates a new focal point in the urban environment. The project draws on the industrial spirit of the district, the traditions of fire-wall development, and the intense transport flow that requires a clearly articulated entrance.
The composition is based on a three-part system: a recessed ground floor, a distinct main volume, and a light attic tier. The façade is designed in a rhythm of bay windows — a contemporary interpretation of a classical technique; its continuity is interrupted by the showcase of the Metro Museum. The main accent is a column-atlant made of glass blocks or ceramics, symbolizing the movement and energy of transport and referring to the Ligovsky Canal, the columns of “Avtovo” station, and the St. Petersburg atlantes.
The façade facing the station square is treated as a theatrical set: wave-shaped surfaces with railway motifs create depth, conceal engineering spaces, and form a dynamic contemporary appearance.
