About the project (provided by the applicant)
Linden House is one of the key structures in the Menchakovo Architectural Park and an example of careful reconstruction of an early 20th-century log house. Instead of demolition, a strategy of “soft integration” was chosen: the original log walls, stoves, and handmade masonry were preserved, complemented by new volumes of glass and wood, clean geometry, and a modern interior. This house exists on two levels simultaneously: it preserves historical memory and peasant texture, while meeting the demands of contemporary living. Linden is neither a museum nor decorative restoration, but living architecture built on a dialogue between past and future. It demonstrates how one can live in the present without erasing traces of time, enhancing them instead with light, air, and space. The house has become a symbol of the Menchakovo project philosophy: respect for roots, attention to detail, and the search for a new language for living on land where architecture connects tradition, modernity, and human experience.

Menchakovo Art Residence
Menchakovo is a cultural project in a village near Suzdal, creating an architectural park with houses designed by leading architects and designers. Each house is an artistic statement connecting tradition and modernity. The project hosts art residencies where artists create works that remain in the village, shaping a unique environment. Architecture and art thus become an integral part of the landscape and community life.
