Best Design Project for Library
About the project (provided by the applicant)
On May 9, 1945, the decision was made to create a library, making it a contemporary of the Great Victory. The core concept of the project is memory. The library aims to find a balance between past and future through the study and preservation of history. A signature feature of the 1958 building is its arched windows with historic glazing. The interior is executed in an eclectic style, harmoniously combining avant-garde and early 20th-century neoclassicism. This is reflected in the carefully chosen color palette and accents on historical details: through arches throughout the space, ceiling beams and coffers, and a metal staircase.
The library includes halls for art and professional literature, a space for young readers with a dedicated children’s collection, a Memory Lab, and an Immersive Hall that allow visitors to experience history and generational memory using advanced multimedia technologies. A specially equipped coworking space provides an area for reading and working.
