Project
Concept for the Creation of the Vyra Manor Literary and Memorial Park
Category
Best Project of Public Space by Student
About the project (provided by the applicant)
The project shapes a public space based on the Vyra estate, associated with the Nabokov family heritage. Today, only individual plantings and fragments of the park layout remain. Research identified the lost axes and composition, which made it possible to restore the historical structure of the site and lay the foundation for its revival.
The concept draws on the writer’s memories and quotes from his works, turning the space into a «memoir» through an oak alley, thematic routes, and memorial zones. The historical logic is preserved, while modern pathways, navigation, and small forms styled like book pages are introduced.
The park is designed as a year-round center — a venue for lectures, master classes, chess tournaments, children’s programs, and gastronomic events. The project reintegrates the lost space into cultural life and becomes a driver for regional tourism development.
