The scenographic solution is a single installation – a rotating structure with interchangeable interior elements. Both narratively and visually, the performance constantly juxtaposes two spheres – the real and the infernal. The multifunctional set allows this effect by enabling characters to exist simultaneously in different spatial and lighting locations, enhancing the emotional impact of the action on stage. The Alexandrian column, symbolizing stability in St. Petersburg’s cultural code, forms the center of the composition, but its tilted silhouette reflects confusion and the protagonists’ emotionally tangled consciousness. A broken carriage signals the impossibility of escaping the closed circle. The eclectic mix of historical and contemporary styles places the visual image of the performance outside of time.
