About the project
A Qatar cuisine pavilion for the St. Petersburg International Economy Forum. The project suggests uniting two opposite yet integral features of Qatar culture – a noisy and vivid Arabic city and an inconsistent nomadic culture. A system of courtyards sunken into the podium offers many dining cells, and there is a kitchen surrounded by a bar in the center of the restaurant. The inspiration source was the traditional construction method used for Bedu huts. 84 differently sized arches are used to curve the membrane and make it resemble traditional sheds. The central vault rests on the wooden columns.
