The Monument to the Fallen Soldiers (1823, architect N. F. Alferov) is a federal cultural heritage site (registry № 161410166150006). This Orthodox memorial church, built in honor of the soldiers who died during the siege and capture of Kazan in 1552, is one of the oldest monuments in Kazan and a rare example of early 19th-century Russian military memorial architecture. The building uniquely combines Egyptian and Greek architectural styles with the Empire style.
For a long time, the church fell into disrepair. During the Perestroika period, it remained closed and stood abandoned for many years, with its overall condition deteriorating.
In 2024, a large-scale restoration project was launched by specialists from LLC “United Construction Company.” Facades, the plinth, roof, crypt, corridor, and entrances were restored; the interiors were updated; masonry was reinforced; and embankment protection works were carried out. On July 21, 2025, the church was consecrated by His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia.
