Project
Reconstruction of the City Cultural Center
Category
Best Project of Public Building or Facility
About the project (provided by the applicant)
After analyzing the technical specifications, we understood that the building required a comprehensive reconstruction — from façades to interiors. It was necessary to rethink the layout, renovate the concert hall, ensure accessibility for people with limited mobility, and integrate modern multimedia solutions. The Tochka Design team faced the task of transforming the facility into a contemporary public space of significance to the city, its residents, and its visitors.
We were looking for a symbolic and appropriate image, which we found in the letter “M” — referring to Monchegorsk, the Murmansk Region, and the local geography, industry, and culture. The architectural design of the main entrance reflects the symbolic shape of this letter. The idea was conceived by the project's art director, Stepan Bugaev.
We aimed for a restrained, long-lasting, and relevant solution without excessive decorativeness. One of the expressive elements is the mosaic, which incorporates fragments of works by Honored Artist of Russia Anatoly Sergeyenko. His paintings have been organically integrated into the architecture.
