Best Implemented Façade or Interior Project Using Ceramics

About the project (provided by the applicant)
Gastro Bistro «Multiculture» is a project by restaurateur Maxim Polzikov. The project’s theme is the combination of four cultures: Azerbaijani, Russian, Spanish, and Israeli. The Russian theme in the interior is revealed through replicas of 18th-century stove tiles. While working on the tiles, artist Anna Filippova collected two hundred images found on stoves in Moscow, Vologda, Rostov, and Kostroma. The captions to these images never repeat and preserve the 18th-century spelling. In addition to replicas of historic tiles, the ceramic panels feature images with hidden meanings understood by Maxim Polzikov and his family. These include affectionate nicknames, favorite proverbs, and popular film quotes. The meanings of some humorous and didactic inscriptions from two centuries ago were deciphered by the artist together with the client.
Two hundred tiles, each measuring 10 × 10 cm, were made using the «raw enamel» technique with stylistic elements of Moscow tile painting.
