About the project (provided by the applicant)
An apartment for a couple and two cats. Our task was to create an interior that is not only comfortable but also emphasizes the depth of the client’s personality. In designing the space, we were guided by Gothic aesthetics and its connection to the medieval European alchemical tradition. The wall is a carved stone narrative of the Wedding of Fire and Water and the birth of the Air Egg. The floating sculpture of the Bird serves as a counterpoint to the stone and metal, creating a vortex of air that lifts us upwards. Every day at sunrise and sunset, our Bird comes to life, playing its full role in the theater of sunlight.
The work desk stands before a stone mosaic panel, each element a sharp rhombus. This is a Chess Game, aiming to bring random entropy to a point of completion and full symmetry of all elements in the system. The hearth bowl — a stone flower containing fire — is not only a symbolic embodiment of the interior concept but also warms the clients during the cold winter.
