The uniqueness of the pavilion lies in the architects’ ability to fill it with light and air—a glass dome over the central hall, stained-glass windows on two semicircular side volumes, a glass roof of the greenhouse, a bay window on the rear facade, and large window openings. No other pavilion at VDNH can boast such an abundance of natural sunlight inside. All original metal structures were preserved during the restoration. The pavilion’s walls are decorated with rich stucco ornamentation. The lost bas-reliefs of the Entrance Hall were recreated as part of the overall 1954 interior perception. During the bas-relief restoration, restorers applied an unconventional painting technique. The restoration successfully revived all the original interior color schemes, including the distinctive crown-lemon color. Based on historic photographs, 30 porcelain chandeliers of three types were restored.
