About the project (provided by the applicant)
This architectural project arose from the need to generate reading spaces in a jungle context, fostering the development of research, science and culture. The morphology is inspired by the ancestral cosmogony of the spiral, a symbol inserted in the dense Amazonian vegetation and among Asaí palms.
The architectural program includes comfortable areas for reading, as well as spaces for exhibitions, a games library, a media library, restrooms and a lookout point. All these environments are articulated through a spiral path, whose configuration seeks to evoke an atmosphere of spiritual harmony and connection with the cultural roots of the territory.
In terms of materiality, the project uses indigenous resources, such as palm leaves for the roof, wood from fallen trees for the supporting structure, and lianas braided with natural fibers for the assembly of the construction systems. This construction strategy allows for a coherent and respectful response to the humid and tropical environment.
