Design Concept of the “Northern Garden” Park
Category
Best Project of Public Space by Student
About the project (provided by the applicant)
“Northern Garden” is a landscape improvement project for a densely populated area in the “Northern Valley” microdistrict near the Parnas metro station. The 10.8-hectare site is proposed to be divided into several small thematic gardens (moss garden, rock garden, reflection garden, etc.), unified by the overarching theme of northern nature.
The implementation of a system of small gardens is an effective method for humanizing public space, helping to mitigate the effects of dense urban development around Saint Petersburg. In the context of aggressive urbanization, the project aims to create a human-scaled and comfortable environment. Each element of the artificial landscape carries symbolic meaning and conveys the idea of harmonious interaction between people and nature.
